Introducing Thumby, the Worlds Smallest Games Console
For those who want their gaming consoles ultra small while they’re on the go, this stamp sized Game boy-like handheld may be the way forward

Gone are the days of the classic Game Boy and the proper retro feel of those little handhelds you could quite easily slip into your back pocket. Granted there is plenty to keep fans entertained on the go like, obviously the Switch but nothing beats that nostalgic feeling of gaming in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s (if you’re old enough to remember).
Thankfully, if you’re into very small handhelds and the idea of playing some classic titles while you’re out and about, there’s some good news.
Created by the talented hands at TinyCircuits, Thumby is born. The worlds smallest, apparently, handheld console that can even be attached via its keychain for extra portability. Although it certainly looks like a mini Game boy the Thumby is programmed with a Raspberry Pi RP2040 Processor and five built-in games with one that resembles the classic Snake and another pretty much the same as Tetris.
What makes it really fun is the fact it’s on a keychain making it look at first like something you bought from Wish but upon further inspection, this tiny yet mighty novelty is much more than meets the eye.

Coming in at only 1.2” x 0.7” x 0.3” (29.5mm x 18mm x 8.5mm) big which is around the size of a stamp, the Thumby has a working 72×40 pixel OLED monochrome display, a buzzer for audio, a 4-way D-Pad and also two control buttons. Not bad for something so tiny! You can also program your very own games on it, too.
This little console would certainly be a great present for those who collect gaming systems and would probably make for an excellent Christmas gift. You can find out more on how to get one for yourself by backing its Kickstarter page which ends on October 29, 2021.
